Write, write and write some more..then edit

Yup doing just that.  A Watery Grave is moving along and might be done today if I can decide a couple things through the building headache.  I am not sure if it is the focus, the kids in the background or the weather but darn it all i am going to finish this one up.  I need to move forward with other long awaited stories, really I do.

Endings is up on Amazon now, as is Sacrifice.  Endings being on another site will never be a free download but Sacrifice I have set up to be free Tuesday.  Here is hoping I get some movement and a review or two out of it.  Ice finished up a respectable 179 downloads.  Can't argue with that now can I?  Okay a few more sales would be nice but hey two actual paid for sales?  It is a start right?

Got the cover fixed on Sacrifice too.  I know the story is set in a dark place but I guess having it on my cover was not a good idea.  Figures.  When I finish up A Watery Grave I will have to do a pretty cover.  Now to do that I need those photos my daughter said she would take for me.  After all if you are going to have a real place in the story why not have a photo of the real place right?  Could be interesting.  If it gets any movement that is.  Hope Everlasting has not moved at all.  Now that surrpised me.  One More All Hallows had respectable downloads...yeah mostly free but I thought that would have led people to trying out the second story.  It isn't priced too bad either.  Well I will put it on free for a day when I put up A Watery Grave.

Okay time to go back to deciding just how Harry et all will defeat the Mari-morgens and keep Sandy Pond a safe place for fishermen and kids.

trying to work through the pain

Okay I'm not sick like a lot of people in pain.  I just have a bad sinus headache.  Any of you who have had them understand.  You try to concentrate and all you can do is wince.  I got some writing done, blogged a bit and answered questions on discussion groups.  Made some tarts for dinner tonight and started up the sweet potatoes for my killer SP rolls.

Now to come up with title ideas for the erotica stories.  Yes I will publish the 20 odd I don't think are too porn.  They need some editing to make them better and then I think if I group them into five books of 4 stories each they can be sold.  Coming up with titles.  My downfall.  Now I like Pleasant moments, Naughty Interludes, Nasty intimacies and what ever I can figure out.

Heck I could do a book or a dozen of my poems.  Heart's desires, Soul's Torment, etc etc.  They might sell, they might not. Okay my mind is coming up with title ideas all of a sudden.  The title of one of my blog pages, Windows of my mind...but who knows.  Flowers of a city field?  Who knows.

Rain is here today

Yes we are actually getting rain and are mostly happy for it.  Okay yeah having my hubby have to walk home in it isnt good but we need the water obviously.  Heck was all know that the North American continent needs water.  The whole thing is mostly in drought.  So let it rain..I dont mind.

Blogging, writing, reading and cooking.  Trying to do so many things at the same time.  Need to settle a bit I think.  Had fun making those yummy muffins.  And I am just gonna have to work on putting my recipes together.  If I can get a good little book together who knows?  It might do better than the fiction.  Though really I want to be known for my fiction.  After all I have been working for so long on most of these tales.

The erotic fiction now that might be interesting.  I have 20 stories currently that would be worth putting in collections.  They aren't the wilder of my stories, almost sweet really if sex could be called sweet.  Trying to figure out what to do.  It is popular right now.  Do I want to jump on a bandwagon just because it is popular?  Can I actually put those tales into print?  Should I use a pen name?  Not sure.  I will have to mull it over.

And better yet what should I call them?  Coming up with titles for my series are hard enough but to come up with titles for erotica that don't sound tacky, harder.  Then there is what should I do for the covers?  I will figure it out soon enough but for now I just want to figure out how to get my other works noticed by readers.

The free downloads tend to top out around 130 copies.  Of those I have gotten a total of nine reviews.  And I seem to get about a sale or two.  Yeah that is all so far.  Now I have only been selling my stories since May so I can't say I am doing horrible.  In this world of instant gratification being n author is still slow.  Very slow.  People have to find you, then decide they want to buy/download your words, then read them, then they might comment.

I am happy with the comments I have gotten.  Even those that are not uber positive.  Nice that I have gotten some though.

Okay time to work.  Harry is being good at the moment and talking to me.  Seems this little tale needs to be concluded.  Here is hoping it will be by the end of the month like I planned.  After all I should probably move on and finish up Destiny's story, she has waited a while for her story to be told.  Yeah those are characters folks and yes they need their stories told.

Morning sunshine all around

Well been a busy morning.  Lots of nice people giving us condolences on our loss.  As nice as it is I would rather we still had Stephen in our lives but these things happen.

The day is cooler thankfully.  Which made running to the store (okay walking we all know lisa cant run) to get the cocoa.  Gotta make the brownies soon.

Now writing wise it was cool to see this this morning:

http://bestindiebooks.com/great-indie-books/show-books/132/Gates/Short-Stories/

This is a site that advertizes indie author's books.  Now since I got in on the beta test my book is advertised for free.  Not huge when it is just links through to my amazon book but hey it is a start right?  Now if we can get those who link through to actually buy the book I would be happy.

And it is a great deal after all.  The kindle copy, which is where the link goes, is a great deal.  99 cents for six awesome short stories.  How can you beat that right?

Well back to making another poem video.  Since getting Harry to tell me his story isn't working so well today I figured I have other avenues of expression.  Yeah I could move to Destiny's story or more of Loralil's tales but I want to put my poems out for reading too.

whoops forgot this isn't connected

Yeah silly me..I forgot I need to post on all my blogs, not just one.  Been so busy making book covers and book trailers, poem videos and well just plain writing.  So I will babble for a little here.  Yeah I have been posting stuff up on Amazon.  Got Echoes of Elder Times started and Guardian of the Gate City and of course Death Walks through.  All three series in the faces of those who are willing to read SHORT fiction over the overly long if well written novels out there.  I write short..we all know that.  Or those crazy people who read my stuff do.

Just put Ending, book one of the Saga of Loralil Greyfox up on Kobo.  Should take a couple of days for complete processing.  Now that one is a bit more pricey than my other stuff.  Being a complete (to me) novel I put it up for $3.99.  My Novella, The Knight Protector I had put up on Smashwords and Amazon at $2.99 and the short stories vary, either being 99 cents or $1.99 if they are longer.  So I am slowly taking over.  Not really but I am publishing.

I have had one sale of the paperback, and so far one sale of Partings, one of One More All Hallows Eve, One of Ice and one of Passing the Torch.  Too bad Night and Day hasn't seen movement since the free offering.  No one has bought it.

I have reviews and that is cool.

Partings has three, One More All Hallows has four, Night and Day has one and Passing the Torch has one.  Nothing so far on reviews for Knight Protector, Gates, Hope Everlasting or Ice.  Course Ice has only been up for about two days so I don't expect that one to have reviews as of yet.

I have been getting views on my book trailers and poem videos.  Even got a comment from one person.  So I guess that is a start.

Now it is too hot to stay here in front of my machine.  Time for a cold drink.

Leaves at OneTrueMedia.com

a video made of my poetry and photographs set to music...an experiment

Music is my muse

Well we all know music will invoke feelings and sometimes images.  In my head it invokes complete scenes.  Some of them are light and funny (okay not as many as it should) but a lot can be dark...like this bit inspired by Man's Roads, song by America in the movie Last Unicorn.

The horizon moved up as she walked, the dawn was lightening the sky slowly from purple.  Stopping she scanned the sky, watching the eagle glide through the air, she sighed and turned her eyes down to  the dust demon skittering across the road.  Starting forward again she wrapped her arms around herself and plodded along.

Everything seemed so grey, dusty and lonely.  Walking was all she could do.  Following the road that man had made in this empty waste.  There was nothing to either side, no building to offer shelter so she kept moving.

The day slowly moved forward and still there was little to break the horizon.  The call of the eagle drifted down to her, urging her to keep going but she was so hungry, so thirsty.  It was hard.

Eyes nearly closed, she followed the black ribbon that slowly rose in the distance.  Briefly as the eagle circled she looked up and could see a building in the distance.  Her heart lifted and she picked up her plodding pace.  As she drew nearer she sighed.  It was a ruin, like all the others she had seen on her long walk.  Moving closer she decided to move toward it.

As she stepped on the weed covered pathway toward the house the eagle swooped down and cried out harshly at her, beating her away from the possible shelter.  The cry startled her and brought her from her daze long enough to see the sign posted.  The skull on top of the fence post and the remains of some animal that had entered the yard.  Shuddering she moved back to her path along the road and kept moving.  The blight had obviously hit here too.  There was no shelter to be found along this stretch of road.

She kept moving till the moon rose and then slowly stopped.  The eagle had come to rest on a bright spot of color.  A tree that had somehow survived the blight.  She tilted her head up to look at her companion.  The great golden bird, nodded and nipped free a fruit that hung from the branches.

Finding energy she didn’t know she had, she moved forward and caught the fruit.  Studying it, she reveled in the feel of the firm bright flesh.  It was not rotten or withered as far as she could tell.  She brought it to her nose and carefully inhaled.

The sweet scent of apple filled her head.  A scent she barely remembered.  It had been so long since she had seen apples.  It brought with it vague memories of life before the barrenness, before the hunger and thirst.

Gingerly she took a bite.  Juice filled her parched mouth and she softly moaned.  She more sucked the juice from the flesh than chewed it but sooner than she hoped she was down to just the seeds.  These she slid into a pocket and looked up again.  The eagle nodded and dropped another down.  Slowly she filled her belly with the first food that she could remember in days.  Soon she was filled and found fatigue overcoming her.

She curled up in a hollow between the tree’s roots and let sleep take her, safe in the knowledge that her winged companion would rouse her if anything approached.

Dark yes.  Interesting?  I think so.  Not sure where I will go with this one but it was there begging to be written.

Old poems and free kindles

Well yesterday before the day made me too queasy to work I was sorting through my old poetry.  Now some of them will lend nicely to the photographs I have taken over the past two years.  Others, not so much.  Some of them are actually not bad and others are whiny and I think I should just delete them.  But that is the thing.  I don't delete my work because someday they just might find a new home somewhere.  A bad poem could easily be worked into a story that would then be part of a collection right?  My work may not have more than a handful of people I don't know reading it but you never know.  Those who actually stop and read it seem to like the odd way I tell things.

Being depressed way back when did lead to some turns of phrase that could lead to interesting romance story ideas...if I actually wrote romances.  Yeah I had two guys take one of my ghost stories as a gothic romance but most don't see that.  Most see the character driven stuff I do, the odd imagery.

Well I put one more of my stories up for free.  Like I said on my other blog, it hasn't moved yet but well it is still early, on a Sunday no less.  Yeah some of the people who actually read my words are in Europe but most are in Canada and the US and well Sundays they sleep in.  Never mind today is officially a holiday here.

It is quiet, which is good.  I like quiet, means I can write and not have people calling or knocking on the door looking for Kaylan and hammering away at whatever it is my neighbor is building or yelling at the dog to come back.  Yeah it can get noisy here.

I think I am gonna try to go take some photos of nature again today but try to go someplace that isn't the stream across the street.  I have so many really nice pics of over there but really nothing else right now.  I need images from different angles and areas of the creek.  It is a nice cool and comfy place for sure.  Wish I was more flexible than I am now.  It is tricky walking along the paths as they go up and down and not feel my ankles complaining or wobbling.  It would be more than embarassing to hurt myself on Canada day again.  I know Fox doesn't want me to go anywhere because of that accident two years ago.

Okay time to do something else.  Something creative.
